Today was a special day for our school. Because we had very important visitors coming to our school. Rachel from the summer learning journey program came to talk to us. The Next foundation. We had a visitor Rachel from the summer learning journey come speak to us about the program. Rachel supports the SLJ and works for WFRC. We had so many great visitors come and support the SLJ and next foundation. Another visitor was Bill Komode he was from the next foundation.And he came and talked how awesome summer learning journey was going. The came and donated a resable amount of money to keep the Summer learning journey going. After our visitors spoke to us we watched the movie about the SLJ. It was fun having a big camure crew in our class. After that we received a free lunch from the Eat my launch crew.

Germany - Collaborative Challenge

In LS2 we have been learning how to work collaboratively with each other. Our task was to research a country and explain how they celebrate Christmas.  The country that we were researching was Germany. We were researching the traditions, food and etc. I learnt that in Germany kids place nice and clean boots in front of their door so St Nicolas (Santa) can visit them and leave a small gift. St Nicolas doesn't really come, its just a family member dressed as Santa. I found that Santa's name is really interesting because it's hard to read. 

Google Scratch

On goggle there is this really cool game.  Called Google Scratch. This game was really challenging because every time I got out I keep trying. Google Scratch was a fun game and everytime I moved to the next level I got more carrots and the level will become even harder.

Teamwork In Panmure Bridge School

For the year 7 leadership speach. we are going to be picking our leaders for 2018. This is going to help us next year for leadership. Savelina,Viva,Shakiah and I created a poster that reminds us about how to get involved,motivate others and make sure everyone understands what to do.

Reflection Tech

Tech has been fun this year. It was a amazing experience. I got to learn so many great things like wood works,Cooking and Art. Tech was great and I enjoyed every moment of it. My favorite was Wood works because I got to design what I want to make like trucks or draws. I wanna say a big thank you to the Tamaki College staff for teaching us many great things.

Summer Learning Journey.

On Friday at our school assembly we had a special guest Hazel and Rachel that are from the Summer Learning Journey program. They came and visited our school. They spoke to us about the Summer Learning Journey and how we can enter and how easy it is to enroll yourself into. The theme is going to be time travel which is really interesting. Were going to be studying about the past and all the cool things that happened.

Tech Tamaki Colloge-PE

On Friday we had another rotation of tech. We were split into groups PE, Socail studys and Robotices. I was in PE.  PE was fun we all got to participate in all the games. Our teacher was Mr Moyes and he was really cool. We played 3 games Samoa softball,Infinity tag and benchball was all fun. We got splitted up into groups and worked as a team. Our team cheered us on when we got out and when we were trying to get an goal. It was fun for everyone because everyone participated and followed the rules propley.

Tech-Art

For tech our focus has been art. I drawed my culture partens. The process of carving was hard because you needed to be very steady with the carving tool. We had to draw our plan on paper just in case we messed up on cardboard.  The we had to carve our designs. After that was done we got paint over the cardboard yellow and then wash the board. Then we had to do four more colors after carving out all the yellow and repeated the process. after doing 4 colors on my cardboard we also had to repeat the 4 colors I did on my board and transfer it  to my papers. I'm finally finished and this is my finishing result.

Fire safety

We have been focusing on emergency serveries for inquiry. Being fire safety is very important. You always need to be careful with fire. If you have a lighter or matches always give them to an adult. It takes 1 minute for a whole house to catch fire. So be careful with fire.

Firestation visit

Our foucs has been emergency services for inquiry. On Tuesday we visited the Mt Wellington fire station. The firefighters spoke to us about how they solve fire emergencys and car crash emergency's. I enjoyed watching whats in the fire truck and when they cuted a car inpart. 

Maths-Screencastfiy

For maths we have been focusing on the correct startgey to use for our maths equations. Savelina,Javeylor and I made a DLO and used screeencastfiy to show the stargey and how we did it. This was easy because we have done something similar like this before using screencastify. 

Learning to Motivate

We are learning about leadership as next year Y7 will be our school leaders. Today we looked at what motivation means. We then worked collaboratively to create role plays to help us see what motivating others looks like, so we can learn to motivate others. 

Helicopter and Police men

For inquiry we have been focusing on community services. A few police officers, A police helicopter and Police dogs came to our school to vist. They talked to us about keeping our community safe and what they use the helicopter for like emergency's like robbers or finding someone. Then the dogs came. Police dogs help the officers by smelling where there located or to smell drugs. What surprised me the most I didn't know that the German shepherd police dogs have 42 teeth.

Manaaiakalani Film Festvil

Yesterday was the 10th Manaaiakalani film festival anniversary at Sylvia Park Hoyts theater. The festival ten years ago with the film making from different schools.  And now got located to Sylvia Park Hoyts. Our whole school got to watch all the amazing movies from different schools in the Panmure cluster. I enjoyed many of the movies but one of my favorites were no more sugar by Tamaki Primary. It was all about don't eat lots of sugar and start eating healthy.

Badminton-Kiwi Sports

Today we had kiwi spots. Kiwi sports great with Kevin. We learnt how to use  the fourhand and back hand and stroke technique with the racket. my partner was Savelina we had lots of fun going back and forth. With the racket. I found doing the backhand technique challenging because it was hand to catch with the racket.

Animal Adaptions - Zebra Shark

LS2 have been learing about Animal Adaptions. Zarah and I chose a zebra shark. We used our searching skills to find were they adapt to there surroundings, what they eat, what they look like, where they live, and what kind of predators are there.

Tech

Today we went to tech at Tamaki Colloge. Our group is doing art. For our art today I finished off coloring my drawing and carving my art. I found carving my drawing very hard because the carving tool was hard to control but became easy to use. I enjoyed painting my art. And transferring it to paper 3 times.

Firework Safety

Today LS2 and LS1 joined together to do a task. We talked about the history about guy Fawkes and how it become popular. Jousha and I have made a presentation about safety rules about fireworks. What was surprising as I didn't know that guy Fawkes tried to kill the king in the Parliament.

How Children Learn at School?

Children learn from their mistakes. It’s important to learn because they go to school and build their knowledge for the future. They can learn to understand. Writing,Reading maths and inquiry. We all learn different from each other. Why do children need to learn? The need to learn to understand to work with each other collaborate and be a team.

How do children learn at school. In our school we use devices. Others use papers,books and pencils to learn. Now days we use chromebooks which is absolutely amazing. Technology is more easier that books because you can blog your work and  it will stay on the internet. Instead of books. When it comes to deleting on devices you just press delete. On paper or books you have to cross out or erase.

For children to learn. They copy each other. Children communicate and work together as a team. Children observe what the teacher does. They use different learings and new learings to learn. Children learn from eacthother when they learn together

Children use technology. Because it’s more easier and more convenient. Children around the world learn different. Kids use their imagination. When they play games,Dress ups and what they wanna be when they grow up

It’s important for children to learn. Because they have a long start in front of them. They learn from their mistakes. By following the rules taking risks and talking to each other to learn.


We have been writing explanations. Carl and Imade a explanation on paper. Our explanation was how children learn at school. We had mistakes about spelling but was easily fixed.

Fraction Strategy - Screencastify

Today I have done a Screencastify for one of my maths DLO's. To do this I had to plan on a document write a script and add a cursor to make my screencastify easy to look at. I then had to download the screencastify app. I then opened my DLO. By clicking the link down below on the document.  I first opened all the tabs before videoing my work I had help from my friends that helped me with the cursor. After  I download the app. There would be a Screencastify folder where all you'r videos go. Were able to do 50 videos a month. I then clicked record and it will automaticly saves into you'r folder in your drive. We than all changed our links so whoever has the link can view our work. And that's how I done my screencastify. A big thank you to Ms Grant for teaching us how to use a screencastify.

Jean Batten-CAREAWARD

I have created a DLO about Jean Batten and her excellence and inactivation. First I had to research A New Zealander that has showed excellence and inactivation. I researched Jean Batten. Jean Batten was the first person to fly across the world. Jean Batten was the first New Zealander to.

PHN-CAREAWARDS

This is for my attitude CAREAWARD. We had to research the role of PHN in school. And tell others how they help us. Today I have learnt that PHN stands for Public Health Nurse. Our school has phn everyday.

Aretha Franklin Respect Song.

Aretha Franklin is a singer songwriter. This DLO has information about Aretha Franklin and what her song respect means.  Aretha Franklin singed one of her famous song respect. The song respect has a important message beside it. This song means everyone deserves respect men,women and anyone.

Maths- Revesion

Today I have been playing time table games so I can be faster at my time tables. Today I have played Tables Conga this game helps me know my time table tables quick. This game goes up to 20 so that means you can do any time tables up to 20. 

Reversion Challenges

Today I have been doing some reversion challenges so I can get better at my reversion. And get quicker at my time tables. Today I have played a game on maths fun about times tables. I have been practicing my times tables on games because it will help me get better and better at my timetables and answer the question fast. 

Kiwi Can

This week was our last session of kiwi can since it's the holidays soon. Today at kiwi can it was really fun. We first started off with a activity could object which was. The object  was a holler hoop,paper,  and a box. We had to use these objects to make it look like something realistic. After the game we played hand soccer. This was a challenging game because you had try not kick it with your feet. Then we played a game called ten toes down which the group with the non bibs had to pass it to ten people and touch the ground.

Advertisting.

We have been learning about advertising and some of interesting things they use to make the product sell. We had to chose a New Zealand product and write what you see makes the product good. I have chosen Strawberry ice cream from tip top which is a New Zealand product. I had to write some of the things I see what makes the product better.

Staying safe at the beach

Today I helped Maata create a DLO. Today Maata and I created a DLO on staying safe at the beach. Here are some questions and some tips before you go to the beach.

Scale Drawing

Last week we were focusing on scale drawings. For this we had to draw grids on our original images and enlargement. We had to rule 1 centimeter lines on our original image and on our enlargement we had to rule 2 centimeters lines and the ratio was 1;2 on our enlargement. Then we had to draw our picture by square by square to make our picture look the same.  Ofa F helped me color in my bird and draw some of the wings.

Demorcrcy-Flow Chart

We have been learning about the elections and prime minsters. Today Savelina Nazella Shakaia and I made a flow chart on democracy. democracy means it's when the country or place is ruled by people. I learnt that demos in ancient Greece means power and strength.

Shot Types

Last week we were looking at the movie The Princess Bride we learnt a lot of new things like different types of angle shots. I picked one of my favorite topics on the movie. Which was shot types and I created a DLO choosing one of the angles. I had to explain a example, What it's used for and where was it in the movie. I really enjoyed learning about the different types and many kinds of angles. 

Democracy

This week our foucs in reading was learning about prime minsters and  politic partys. For this I went into a group with Nazella,Savelina, Shakaia, and myself made a DLO on democracy. and how it works.

Political Partys

This week we have been learning about Prime minsters and  Politic Party's. This week Savelina Nazella Shakaia and I have been learning about Prime Minsters. Today We have made a goggle presentation about one of the past prime Minsters. We have chosen Helen Clark for our past Prime Minsters. for this we had to research things that she have done good as a Prime Minster. Helan Clark is one of 5th longest Prime Minster to stay in the parliament and has cared about her people.

Political Partys

This week our focus has been elections. We have been learning about prime Minsters and the different types of partys. This week Nazella Savelina Shakaia and I made A DLO on the Prime Minsters and which political party they support.

E- Book Day

Today is the 18th of September and it's E-Book day E-book day is a celebration of modern story telling.  Today we used the Tamaki College overdrive to read our E books at school. Today I have read a book called the Jungle Book this book is by Rudyard Kipling. This book is a very interesting book and I can't wait to read more about this book. Say It Tiki

  Today Miss Kirkpatrick introduced us a google maps site. since this weeks foucs is Maori langage week. The Google maps was called Say It Tiki we are learning how to speak the Maori words correctly for Maori language week . We had to get a Maori word that people say incorrectly and imporve on the pronouncement. 

How To Stand Up To Bullies.

Today LS2 have been looking at why it's important to stand up to bullies. We have been looking at this because we are year 7 and 8 and we have to learn to help others when there getting bullied. If you ever see anybody stand up to them and use you'r WITS. Sa Kae and I made an animation about bullyin. This shows you a story of how you can stop bullying. 

25 Word Summary Angles

This week we were learning about angles. We had to get into groups of 4 and we had to make a 25 word summary about angles. I worked with Hajera,Sky and Joshua. And we created a DLO on Angles.

Tech

Today at tech we were drawing our patterns. For this we had to draw culture designs or something special about our culture. I drawled a Niue flag with Niue patterns.

Tamaki College Overdrive

Today LS2 went on the Tamaki College Overdrive. Which is a digital library. I like this site because I can choose what ever book I like Mystery,Fiction And nonfiction. My favorite part of this Library is that it's  digital. The book that I'm reading is called Nancy Clancy Super Sleuth.This book is under Humor I'm just starting to read this book.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can our focus was taking risks. In Kiwi Can today we played a game called hand soccer. We played soccer by using our hands and we couldn't touch it. Our main rule was for everyone in the team to touch the ball before it goes into the goal. Our other warm up game was bip bop bounce bang we had to say bang before Mrs Malu and Miss Latoia say the whole phrase .

Different Types Of Angles

This week for maths our focus is angles. We had to get into a groups of 4 and find out about the different types of angles and how we could recognize them. The point where the 2 arms meet is called the vertex. The area in between the 2 arms of the angle is measured in degrees. To measure how big the angle is we use a protractor.

Two Word Sentences

This week for writing our focus was 2 word sentences. We had to chose a two word sentence for example dream big.We used FANBOYS and AAWWUIBBIS to create a Compound and Complex and simple sentences

Capialization

Our focus in writing is Capialization. We had to rewrite the sentences and add capital letters in the right place. 

Apostrophes.

This week for writing our focus was contractions and apostrophes. If you don't know what apostrophes are it's when you use a punctuation mark to replace missing letters. 

Read Theory

Today we went on Read Theory. Read theory is very helpful because it helps me build up my knowledge. It also helps me with my reading. I also get to read new text types which also helps me I get to read about plants, animals, and other interesting things.  It also helps us compare text types and improves my vocabulary.

Why it's great to be me.

  Its great to be me because were young and we have lots of energy. Its great to me because we don't need a lot of things grown ups do. I really like butter chicken,Strawberry, ice creams and grapes,. When I grow up my goal is to have a really good job and be happy

Police and Chef

LS2 have been focus on careers and jobs. Nazella and I were exploring jobs. For this we created a poster showing what safety hazards there were between police officers and chefs. 

Complete The Contractions

For writing our focus is. Contractions and Apostrophes. For this we had to write the word with the quotation mark and capitalization. 

Cool Facts about the sun

For reading today or group (Kokako) recorded our text and wrote our summery. Did you know? The sun is very special because it helps plants animals and humans survive because. It provides light which helps plants grow and animals eat

Dance

Today my group practiced our dance by using rewindable learning for our dance. This dance is for the end of the term production. If you don't know what rewindable learning is it is when you can go back and have a look at your learning and you can rewind it over and over again. Our group used rewindable learning to copy our dancing from our chrome book. 

Idiom

This weeks focus in writing is Idiom. Idiom is a expression that have phrases that can't be taken serious . I have created a DLO about Idiom and some examples. My Example I have illustrated was butterflies in my tummy.

On The Bus.

For reading today I created a 3 box comic strip of me retelling a part of a story called on the bus. This text is about a boy trying to hide his piglet on the bus in his bag to show his grandfather. I had to create this to show if the bus driver finds out that theirs a pig on his bus. To create this I used a Storyboard creator which is a free website you can use.

Title - Scott and the Gladiator

What happened in the beginning? What happened in the middle? What happened at the end?	What happened in the beginning ? mirror and someone looked back at him. The boy in the mirror pulled him from the other side of the mirror. Scott was in the arena in Rom. What happened in the start? Scott was fighting the Gladiator in the arena after him was. a lion but the lion wasn't chasing Marucas so Scott went to help him by waving his  sword towards the the lion. For the lion to go away. What happened at the end? Towards the end Scott gave the shield to Marcus but then something weird happened the sun made the shield gleam like a mirror. And when Scott looked at the shield he was falling into it. Scott was back in his bedroom

For reading we read a book called Scott and the Gladiator. This book was a about a boy called Scott. That looks in his mirror. And sees a boy. The boy takes him to the arena to fight. Today I have created a  goggle document about the parts in the story. beginning middle and end.

Why is it so important to keep oral story telling alive?

Maori storytellers believe these stories have been forgotten and lost in dust, they are trying to keep their culture, beliefs and language alive for tomorrow.

Today, Nazella and I worked collaboratively making a 25 word summary based on the question: Why is it so important to keep oral story telling alive? We watched YouTube videos and looked for the main message in the videos. Then we made our 25 word summary, it was difficult because we couldn't add everything inside the summary. To get around this problem, we had a few learning conversations which helped us agree and disagree. 

How Maui slowed down the sun - Myths and Legends

Myths and legends has been our focus this week. Nazella and I have been looking at the myth of how Maui slowed down the sun. Nazella and I made a Storyboard from one of the scenes from the myth. It was difficult to find objects that could match with the scene because they were modern items. 

Plastic free July

On Tuesday Tamaki wrap came to Panmure Bridge School. And they were explaining why plastic is bad for the environment and ways to avoid using plastic. and reduce plastic. They say its plastic free July which means this July we have plastic free. No plastic on the grounds. After we got into groups and did activity's on plastic. we cuted up empty food packets like chips and hash brown packets then we glued it on to the paper. Then our next activity was the fabrics while we had to cut up fabric of the shape of plastic. Our last was nature we had go threw magazines looking for nice photos of nature.

St. Lucia's Day

Today San Kyaw and I were researching about winter solstice. I chose me and San Kyaw chose St. Lucia's day.
