Explanation writing - camels
Camels are very interesting animals because they can eat anything big and sharp. Did you know? Camels are able to go several months without water which is a very long time.
At night the desert is, cold, and in the morning its very hot. Camels live in an environment where it’s hot and dry. In the desert there's not that much water, thats why theres not that much trees, because there's hardly ever water to make it grow.
Camels have thick eyebrows, two shield the eyes from the sun. Camels have pads on their feet and chest, two prevent the heat from hurting their feet. They also grow two sets of eyelashes to prevent sand going into their eyes. Camels have big notrituse that can open and close, so it can prevent sand going into their nose.
Camels are found in North Africa and the Middle East. They can last months without water. In their body they produce fat in their hump. It’s full of fat which helps them have energy when they cant find any food. This helps them keep cool in the day and warm in the night.
Camels have adapted and changed over the time to survive in the hot desert. Camels have adapted to these conditions without any struggling, this is they way the live. They can survive many months and weeks without water or food.
In writing we have been writing a explanation about how camels adapt to the environment. We also looked at how camels change while living in the desert and hot places. We watched 3 videos about camels and also took notes in our books to help us write our explanation.

Bridge Testing
For inquiry this term we have been focusing on bridges and structures. For the past couple of weeks we have been planing and building our spaghetti bridge in our group. Our presenting day was on Wednesday last week were we had to showcase our bridge to everyone. We decided to build a beam bridge because it sounded simple and easy to build which was difficult for our group. We used spaghetti, tape, string and rubber bands to do this. We also had to measure our spaghetti so it was the same length as everything else. Our bridge ended up holding more than 2 bricks, but dropped on the third brick. I thought that our bridge will only hold 1 brick, because our bridge didn't look complete.

Maths Week - Scale drawings
Last week we had a all math's week. Our focus was scale drawings and this was my second time doing this. We had to look for a picture we wanted to draw. I deiced to draw Lisa from the Simpsons. We had to make sure that when we draw our picture on our enlargement piece that the squares match the smaller version and looks like the actual picture the ratio was 1:2. I ruled 1 centimeter lines on our original piece and on my enlargement I ruled 2 centimeter lines. I found drawing it square by square hard because you had to make sure everything was in the correct place. Coloring in our enlargement and darkening the outlines was the best part for me. Next time if I could change it I would shape the head and eyes differently because the don't look like the original piece. This years scale drawing is better than last years scale drawing probably because I have had experience doing this last year.
