Adding Decimals

In math's our focus has been Decimals. Today I created a DLO on adding decimals. The strategy I used was rounding and compensating. On this DLO it has how I got the answer and the strategy I used. I created this DLO to show others a decimal strategy. 

Wynhard Crossing - Golden Gate Bridge

In inquiry we have been focusing on bridges. Here is a ven diagram with the differences and similarities, of the Golden Gate bridge and Wynyard Crossing bridge. The golden gate bridge is 4.200 feet. 

Gotthard Tunnel and Water view tunnel.

For inquiry we have been looking at tunnels. To do this I worked collaboratively with Savelina. We had to compared and contrast the Gothard tunnel and Water view tunnel. We put the similarities in the middle on what the tunnels both have.  

Read theory

In reading we do read theory to help us get better in reading. As you can see my progress last time was not so good. This time I have improved on my score and grade. To get better I will read the text two times before answering so I have a clear understanding on which answer to pick. 

Mapping of the empire state building- Key into evaluation

Our task was two, create a DLO about the empire state building in NYC ( New your City). I than had to chose 5 other places near the empire state building, I would like to visit I also labeled the places.

Fishing for an eel - Key into elevation

For our key into evaluation, our task was to research how to fish a eel. Fishing an eel is sometimes hard, but can also be easy for some people. Eel's can weigh up to 44 pounds and are 8 feet.  

Food tech - Reflection - Pizza

Today at tech we made pizza. For this we used, Pita bread, Pineapples, cheese, tomato paste and ham we speared the ingredients on the bread. Than put it in the oven for 15 mins than finished. 

Maths Week - Scale drawings

Last week we had a all math's week. Our focus was scale drawings and this was my second time doing this. We had to look for a picture we wanted to draw. I deiced to draw Lisa from the Simpsons. We had to make sure that when we draw our picture on our enlargement piece that the squares match the smaller version and looks like the actual picture the ratio was 1:2. I ruled 1 centimeter lines on our original piece and on my enlargement I ruled 2 centimeter lines.  I found drawing it square by square hard because you had to make sure everything was in the correct place. Coloring in our enlargement and darkening the outlines was the best part for me. Next time if I could change it I would shape the head and eyes differently because the don't look like the original piece. This years scale drawing is better than last years scale drawing probably because I have had experience doing this last year. 

Food Tech -Sausage Kebabs

Today at tech we have made, sausage kebabs. This was easy because all we had two do was cut the vegetables and sausages and than put it threw our skewers. We firstly putted the skewers inside  water. We used peppers and onions, so we could have something healthy inside of our kebab. We sliced up the peppers and onions, and than sliced our sausages. When they were all sliced up, we put them threw a skewer, bake for 10 minutes and enjoy. 

Food Tech - Butter chicken

 In Tech we made butter chicken. I was partnered up with Viva to do this. We had to follow the instructions on the board on how to make the butter chicken. Without the teacher telling us what to do. 

Cook Island Language week.

Since cook island week was recently our class decided that we should all learn about the Cook Islands. We worked in groups to complete this post. I learned that cook Island doesn't speak one language. They speak English, Maori, and Rarotonga.

Wheel word quiz.

For reading Pakatoa did the wheel words quiz. We had to try create words by using the middle letter but needs to be between 4 and 9 letter words. I used 4 hints, I ended up getting them all right.

Kiwi Can Reflection

Today group B went to kiwi can. Our focus this week is resilience and problem solving. Problem solving is when you find a solution or way to fix the problem when somethings going wrong in your team or in your group. In kiwi can today we played two games, hand soccer and rock paper scissors. Our goal in hand soccer was two get the ball threw our goal, without cheating. 

Kiwi Can

In Kiwi can our topic is resilience , and goal setting. We talked about some of the goals we wanted to achieve, and for us to set goals for our self. We played two games. Golden child and Snatch. Our goal in golden child was to get our whole team across the other side, before the other team put the ball in the hoop. In snatch we had to make sure we followed the rules, and two not push and shove. 

PechaFlickr - Hikking

 

In writing we have been focusing on the topic pechaflikr. For this I worked collaboratively with Joel and our topic was hikking. For each photo we took turns describing whats going on in the photo, and make sure that the next photo links two what were they saying and makes sense. This was really fun because we got to try something new, this was my first ever time doing a pechafikr.

Cook Island language week

Since, Cook island week is this week. We have being learning how two speak some simple phrases in cook island. I parented up with Sky, to learn how to pronounce some cook Island sentences. If you want to learn how to speak cook Island click Digital dialect.

Karoro School - Lincon's blog

Today I have blogged on Lincon's blog from Karoro School. I commented on his Mind mapping blog post. I didn't know you could create your own Mind mapping on a paper but you would have to draw the pictures instead. Using goggle is much easier because you can just search images.
